POIESIS is a three-year project funded by Horizon Europe that strives to tackle societal mistrust in science by understanding how, and to what extent, societal trust in science, research, and innovation is affected by the aligning of research practices with principles of research integrity and by the integration of citizens and societal stakeholders in different phases of the research cycle.

The Challenge

Understand how, and to what extent, societal trust in science, research, and innovation is affected by the aligning of research practices with principles of research integrity and by the integration of citizens and societal stakeholders in different phases of the research cycle.

for policy makers, research funding and performing organisations, higher education institutions and other R&I actors.

Provide recommendations to research performing and funding organisations,

for strengthening the co-creation of research and innovation contents by society, and for the spreading of good practices and evidence of their effects.

Communicate and Disseminate,

by using innovative means the findings and messages of our research Implement innovative means ofcience, research and innovation; for policy makers, research funding and performing organisations, higher education institutions and other R&I actors.

The movement to make scientific research and its dissemination accessible to all levels of society.

Conducting research in such a way that allows others to have confidence and trust in the methods and the findings of the research.

Increased inclusion of citizens and societal stakeholders throughout the different phases of research and innovation cycles.

Key actors and core processes involved in the pursuit of delivering robust and relevant research results in the interests of both science and society.

Following regulations, complying with codes of conduct and taking professional, legal and ethical responsibility.

Research practices that do not constitute “research misconduct”, i.e. falsification, fabrication, and plagiarism, but fail to align with the principles of scientific integrity.
